System description

ActiveROLL is Polytec’s advanced Level 1 automation platform for long product rolling mills, designed to maximize productivity, product quality, and process stability. The system coordinates every stage of the rolling process through intelligent speed regulation, tension control, and real-time process optimization, ensuring consistent production performance across different rolling campaigns.
At the core of the solution is Polytec’s innovative Double Cascade Speed Control, combining Inlet Cascade and Active Dynamic Cascade algorithms to optimize stand speed references, maintain minimum rolling tension, and ensure smooth billet tracking throughout the mill. The platform also integrates advanced functions for laying head synchronization, RHF discharge optimization, head and tail cutting control, and production performance monitoring.
Designed for both new installations and rolling mill revamping projects, ActiveROLL provides a flexible and scalable automation architecture capable of improving operational continuity while reducing manual intervention.
