Long-term industrial innovation is built on strong technology partnerships. This is demonstrated by the collaboration between Polytec and Carcano Antonio S.p.A., one of Europe’s leading producers of rolled aluminum products, who have successfully completed multiple automation and robotics projects aimed at improving safety, productivity, and manufacturing quality. One of the first projects involved the installation of two robotic cells for the automatic handling of hot shear scrap. Designed to operate in harsh industrial environments, the robots safely remove steel scraps weighing up to 300 kg at temperatures approaching 400°C using a high-temperature vacuum gripping system. The material is automatically transferred from the shear line to dedicated collection boxes, eliminating hazardous manual operations while improving production efficiency and cycle times.
Building on the success of these projects, the partnership expanded to include major electrical and automation revamping activities at Carcano Antonio’s production plant in Delebio, Italy. Among the most significant projects is the modernization of the Spluga 1 foil rolling mill, where Polytec delivered a complete turnkey solution including electrical engineering, MV and LV power distribution equipment, advanced automation systems, Level 1 software development, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), electrical installation, commissioning, and operator training. Polytec is also supporting the restoration and automation upgrade of the San Marco rolling mill, helping restore production continuity through reliable electrical and automation solutions tailored to the customer’s operational requirements.
The collaboration between Polytec and Carcano Antonio has continued to grow through mutual trust, engineering expertise, and a shared commitment to continuous innovation.
