Polytec and AFV Beltrame Group: strategic partnership for steel plants digitalization

The long-standing collaboration between Polytec and AFV Beltrame Group demonstrates how strategic partnerships can drive the digital transformation of steel production through automation, robotics, and process innovation. The shared objective has been to develop advanced solutions that improve operator safety, enhance product traceability, and increase productivity across multiple production facilities.
Over the years, Polytec has delivered numerous custom-engineered robotic systems specifically designed to integrate seamlessly into existing steelmaking processes while addressing the unique operational requirements of each plant.

The partnership has generated several technological milestones. In 2016, Polytec and AFV Beltrame Group jointly developed the company’s first robotic system for continuous casting operations, introducing automation into high-temperature production areas to improve operator safety and replace manual activities.
The collaboration subsequently expanded with the implementation of dual-robot gantry systems for automatic billet tagging, two robotic cells for steel bar bundle tagging, and additional EAF LF robotic installations across other Group facilities.
These solutions reduce operator exposure around furnace areas, automate material handling and identification processes, and ensure complete product traceability throughout the production cycle.
