Continuous production flow between warehouse and work centers

For a leading manufacturer of industrial valves, Polytec Intralogistics designed and implemented a fully integrated autonomous material handling system to optimize the flow of components between the automatic warehouse and the production lines. The project aimed to eliminate repetitive manual handling, reduce internal transport times, and guarantee continuous production with maximum efficiency and safety.
At the heart of the solution is the Voyager S70 AGV, equipped with an integrated lifting system and a payload capacity of up to 700 kg. Operating autonomously, the vehicle manages the transport of trays between the automated warehouse and three machining work centers, ensuring a continuous and synchronized production flow.
The process begins with a robotic arm retrieving raw components from the automatic warehouse and loading them onto dedicated trays. The Voyager S70 then transports the trays to the production work centers, where anthropomorphic robots automatically load and unload the machines. Once machining is completed, the AGV returns the finished trays to the warehouse area, where they are seamlessly reintegrated into the automated storage system.
All transport missions are managed by Polytec’s fleet management software, coordinating every movement in real time without requiring direct operator intervention. Fast inductive charging further enhances system availability, allowing the AGV to operate continuously while minimizing downtime.
Designed with scalability in mind, the system can easily accommodate additional AGVs, new production lines, or further work centers, providing a future-ready intralogistics platform capable of evolving alongside the customer’s manufacturing needs.
