Polytec designed, engineered, and commissioned a fully automated 4″ Tube Bending Cell for the production of steel and aluminum elbows at Zekelman Industries Picoma.
The turnkey solution integrates robotics, automation, and advanced process control to significantly increase production capacity while ensuring consistent product quality, repeatability, and operator safety. The system automatically manages bending operations through recipe-driven production, minimizing setup times and ensuring reliable process performance across different product configurations.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic during the commissioning phase, Polytec successfully completed the project by combining remote Factory Acceptance Testing with on-site support, ensuring a smooth start-up and full customer satisfaction.
